NMD 340 | Designing for Digital Storytelling

The Challenge:

As a marketing student, I know that first impressions are everything. For my NMD 340 course, I was tasked with building a professional portfolio. My goal was to move beyond a basic “image dump” and create a space that tells the story of my travels and my business ventures.

The Design Process:

  • The “Dark Gallery” Aesthetic: I chose a dark theme with clean frames to make my travel photography the hero. It creates an immersive, “night-mode” experience that feels modern and high-end.

  • Technical Refinements: I used Elementor to customize every detail. This included shrinking the footer for a minimalist footprint, balancing the header layout, and ensuring the site is fully responsive across mobile and desktop.

  • UX Strategy: I organized the menu to prioritize the “User Journey”—moving from curated photography to my “Playground” for experimental work, and finally to a clear, personalized contact page.

The Personal Touch Building this site taught me that web design is just marketing in a different form. It’s about hierarchy, flow, and making sure the viewer understands who I am as a creator within the first few seconds of landing on the page.

Skills Demonstrated: * UI/UX Design, Elementor Pro, Responsive Optimization, Content Strategy.
